I just got my iClear case today. I bought the model for 2G Touch, without the belt clip. (There is a more expensive model that includes a belt clip and armband). The case fits fine, looks fine to my eye, and so far seems OK case-wise - though I haven't dropped it yet... However, for what otherwise seems to be a good quality product, the screen protector is really awful. It comes with two tabs attached to help you install it - but they didn't peel off cleanly and I had to scrape a gooey mess of paper and adhesive off the screen protector. Even after scraping, gummy adhesive remained stuck on the screen protector which I can't get off completely. To make matters worse, some of gummy junk that I scraped off found its way onto the back of the iPod, which I had a heck of a time removing (and it seems to have left some unremovable residue there, too.) Beyond that, I tried to apply the screen protector so as to minimize bubbles, but to no avail. It's got plenty of bubbles, which I tried to get rid of with the edge of a credit card as the instructions suggest, but it's still bubbly. (Not only that, but all that scraping with the edge of the credit card scratched the surface of the screen protector. I hope not the screen itself.... ) All in all, I can't understand why Griffin would put out a good quality case and then ruin it with a junky screen protector and garbage adhesive.
Customer Review: Good Product To An Extent
The Griffin iClear is a sleek case for the iPod Touch 2G with easy installation and de-assemblage. Its thinness allows max use of its touch feature because it's not bulky and doesn't hinder you in any way. Also its clear design allows you to see the personalized message you may have inscribed at the back of your iPod, which is pretty cool. The iClear does do its job -- protects the iPod--to an extent, however. But with every product comes its flaws. This is where I had to decide whether or not to rate it 3 or 4 stars: 1. As far as sturdiness I'd give it a 2 out of 5 because being as clumsy as I am, dropping my iPod on occasion was inevitable. And each time I dropped it, the case would come apart and my ipod would go flying out, taking aways from its protection. 2. Also, included in the package is a screen protector, which was pretty nice, but it was HELL trying to put it on and no matter how many times I reapplied it, there were still so many air bubbles, which was frustrating but I ended up getting the Invisible Shield to solve that problem--which by the way is an AMAZING product...Invest in that 3. In Addition, the product description states that there is a belt clip included which was a huge deciding factor for me even getting this product in the first place. But THERE IS NO BELT CLIP INCLUDED! So if you are looking to have a belt clip, save yourself the time and money and look past this product, because you won't get one. 4. Lastly, after a while, from dropping it and contact with pointy things, the case gets scratched up, which is disappointing and on occasion I have to take aprt the case to clean it because dust gets in it, not much though. Overall, because I'm used to it (I've had it 1 month now) I don't really complain now. It does its job and it is pleasing to the eye and ultimately, I would recommend it. So there you go---the Griffin iClear. :)
